This painting undergoes a kaleidoscope of winter in the North. The circles represent both sun dogs (a halo of light around the sun usually during the very cold days) and different shifts of the light that changes as the day progresses. The skier has reached the top of a hill (Barry Hill) overlooking the flatness of the Yellowknife area which includes Walsh Lake, Vee Lake and all other manner of lake around the NWT.
